Dallas McFarland, George Algernon Percy, Vincent Bowen and William Powers arrive in New York two hours before the interview. They go to an upmarket place on 5th avenue. Dallas does up their CV’s and builds a cover story over their real lives to make them into a team and hide what they have really been up to. After coming back together shortly before they go over the main points and head up.
Dallas has nominated herself as the engineer, William as security, Marcus as PR, George as the team leader and Vincent as his assistant. At the building on the edge of the financial district they are virtually ignored by security and waved through when they say where they are going.
Vincent pushes Marcus out as the PR guy, he has a look around finding the only used section on the floor. He strides forward and determination, when his mother calls out, Marcus what are you doing, he stops deflates. They go through a smoky glass door into an open plan office. On the left are offices, at the back an open door reveals lab techs and equipment.
John Watts a small, nebbish man ushers them forward and into a small conference room. He keeps the door open, but doesn’t shake their hands. Two people are still in there. Henry Piereson and Anan Tinashe sit on either side of the spare chair for their boss. The players sit in the seats across from them. The introductions are made.
John explains about the biomod. He is the owner manager, passionate about the project. He extols the value of being a small agile company doing research. They make some small talk, John mentions the two shoots outs and the Mafia having a holiday. They say you can’t believe the reports, citing the political struggle happening there as well.
Dallas tells her so she is asked about engineering stuff, degrees, calculus etc, which she is able to do. John guesses William is security. Dallas says Marcus is PR, George is the manager, he shows his medical knowledge by asking which model its based on, Anasi or Biogene. John looks a bit confused then tells them it has something from those an a lesser known Lavender model, with some of his own work. Which leaves Vincent as the assistant, John fails to ask proper questions about filing, all seems well. But he passes the question to Anan, who asks questions he can’t answer.
John stops this and says its good enough. He explains the job is to bring them onto Poseidon pretend to setup a company. While they will negotiate a deal with an incorp and sell the models on. They may need to do a handover, but that’s all.Since this is a sensitive mission they will need to hand over something valuable to them as collateral. He is taking a big risk and he wants to reduce the risk of being double crossed.
When he says this its clear he hasn’t run it past his two employee’s. He waves his hands in general manner, obviously having not fully thought this through. The players are stumped. They will have a few days to think about it.
They go to a café to talk about what they will give. Vincent thinks about offering his legs. They throw around all kinds of ideas, mainly to find a way to give something which they can pass of as valuable. Dallas tells Marcus to find out about the other applicants. He says he missed a few birthdays, Christmases and Mothersdays. So he going shopping online to make up for it. He will stay in New York.
Dallas does a search for the names of the three they met. John Watts graduated from MIT, worked for american companies. Forum posts describe him as talented, but eccentric. He disappeared after working in a string of jobs, then going off the radar before BHouse industries. Henry Pierceson has the best online footprint as an engineer. Anan Tinashe studied engineering at online in her native Africa before coming to the U.S.
Bhouse is ten years old, John Watts took over in five years ago. The previous CEO is a prolific member of company boards and executive positions. The books are closed as a Limited company. Since the incorps run 90% of the worlds business the caution and low key nature is not surprising. Other businesses do manage to be more open.
They go back to Port Charlotte before the day lease runs out.
